Minutes of March 28, 2002 Meeting
Meeting called to order by President Zona Fink at 8 A.M. on March 28.
1 .There were ten members present. This is a quorum.
2. The treasurer’s report was presented by Bob Carlile. There was an error in the February report. Income for February should be corrected to $1080. The balance at end of March is $2058.15. Working with Ayres and French, Don Beard has received a quote for D&O insurance of $910. This yearly premium is due in July 2002. We are currently paying $1100 with another insurer.
Treasurer’s report accepted.
3. Minutes of February meeting were corrected and accepted. The minutes will be sent to the Yavapai County webmaster to be posted on their net site.
4. Correspondence received from the League of Women Voters announcing a Water Forum. This event will be held at the Camp Verde High School cafeteria on May 18 from 8:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. Everyone is invited to participate. Cost is $10 which includes lunch. Yavapai County Supervisor Chip Davis will moderate the forum. State Representative Tom O’Halleran will be guest speaker at lunch. If you wish to attend, e-mail or call (information deleted).
5. Transportation -Chris Moran from the Supervisor’s office attended the March meeting of the committee. Dick Byrnes reported that she said the county no longer will accept sidewalks for maintenance and insurance. However, there will be a path put in on the school side of Bell Rock Blvd. from Verde Valley School Road to the school entrance roads. This is a cooperative agreement between the school district and the county.
Dick said he hopes to have an ADOT representative attend the next transportation committee meeting on April 8. The topic to be discussed is safety improvements to Hwy. 179 in our Big Park area.
Planning and Zoning-Joanne Johnson brought the plans for the Cross Creek Ranch proposed development. This is located on Oak Creek near Cup of Gold subdivision and adjacent to Red Rock State Park
She introduced Bob Carabel who spoke about the amended Light Pollution Control Ordinance which is coming to the Board of Supervisors of Yavapai County for their approval on April 1 in Prescott. The Council passed a motion to send a letter to the Supervisors asking them to vote yes on the ordinance. The letter will be sent out by fax today.
The P&Z Committee will meet with a representative from Yavapai College and someone from
the county Development Services department on April 8 at 9:30 to discuss the Elderhostel use of the Assisted Living Center on Canyon Diablo Road.
Recreation-Bob Carlile and Dick Byrnes using the Church of the Red Rocks van have taken youngsters to the skateboard park in Camp Verde. They will be doing this again on March 30 and April 11 and April 27. Standby drivers with vans may be needed if the turnout exceeds the van capacity of 15.
They are starting a game night at Kachina Retirement Center (Sedona Winds). A pilot program of 5 children will be invited for dinner and board games this month.
The Big Park PTSA is sponsoring a Fun Fest on April 28. Our recreation committee will have a table there with information about the skateboard trips, game nights and the summer swimming program at the Hilton Hotel.

Supervisor Davis held his semiannual meeting in our community from 9:00 to 11:30. His agenda included pathway to the school, drainage problems and solutions on the east side of hwy. 179, juvenile probation program, county sheriff issues in our area and the statewide ongoing water litigation and how it will affect our Verde valley.
