* SMOKE ALERT*
USFS Announces Planned Burns in the Flagstaff Area –

The Big Park Council received the following note from Alex Schlueter, District Ranger of the USFS – Please be aware and share this important information with friends and neighbors.

“Good morning, Verde Valley Leaders,

I wanted to make sure that you are aware of Coconino National Forest’s prescribed burn plans next week. As you can see, there is considerable acreage planned around the Flagstaff area. Depending on the wind (or lack thereof), it is likely that at least some smoke will settle into the Verde Valley overnight. Please also note the link below to Inciweb. If anybody is looking for information, this is probably the most up to date place to see the Coconino National Forest’s prescribed burn plans. You may have to remind folks to scroll down to see information as the website map loads at the top of the page and can throw people off.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns!

Alex Schlueter, District Ranger
Forest Service – Coconino National Forest, Red Rock Ranger District”
